Boom-beach - tower defense mobile gameIn 2013 Forbs acknowledged Supercell as a most fast developing company in a gaming arena. With time things get worth by no means and Finnish developers confirm their leadership over and over again. After proper and rather long beta-testing of Boom Beach on Canadian and Australian stores Supercell are ready to present their new project to users of whole the world.

Boom the Beach is the third global mobile project of Supercell (after Clash of Clans and Hay Day). Developers themselves claimed that this app is kind of risk. Its game mechanic is fairly different than the one of its hit elder brother Clash of Clans. However test launching showed good results and there is a strong hope that another strategy game will interest existing users and bring a bulk of new. At first Boom Beach will be available only for iOS users, a bit later also for Android, but Windows Phone owners won’t be given a chance to enjoy this Strategy.

More details about Boom Beach are in previous post.

Supercell: numbers to envy

Supercell - fastest developing company Last year Supercell made more than $890 million. That is about 9 times more than revenue of 2012. Unfortunately developers got only near $450 million and the rest goes to different duty. But is “unfortunately” really right word here?  There was information that in 2013 Clash of Clans leaved behind even a legendary Angry Birds from Rovio in the list of most profitable games of Apple App Store.

I have the only question. How do they manage that?

Oceanhorn absorbed features of adventure, puzzle, action, arcade, quest and RPGOceanhorn is finally on App Store

After about four years of developing and improving the adventure game Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas finally appeared on Apple App Store.

This is a story about young man who embarked on a dangerous trip through fairy in search for his father. He’ll have to explore an ancient mysterious world, master magic, meet rivals, fight with monsters and unravel a bulk of enigmas.

Oceanhorn can provide about 10 hours of gameplay

The main outstanding merit of this adventure is a fascinating 3D graphic which creates a feeling of being in a fairy world. The game absorbed features of different genres: adventure, puzzle, action, arcade, quest and partially even RPG. While traveling, the youth will accomplish various tasks, solve puzzles, get an experience, save up money, improve his skills and upgrade a vehicle.

Oceanhorn costs $8.99 It seems like the developers have invested much resource in this project and due to that the price of $8.99 looks quite reasonable. I haven’t checked the length yet but they promise that Oceanhorn can provide about 10 hours of captivating story driven gameplay.

However by the look of things there is no outstanding novelty in this adventure game. At the time the Oceanhorn was under development many critics claimed that it is just a clone of distinguished console game The Legend Zelda (by Nintendo). And after launching of the app many of users confirmed the similarity.

Oceanhorn is compatible with iOS 5 and higherAnyway Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas is still a self-sufficient game with some its own distinguished features. Considering such a long period of game polishing it obviously offers really a high quality gameplay. After all, Oceanhorn can be a good alternative for Zelda fans owning idevices. By the way, the game is compatible with iOS 5 and higher.

Note: The first prototype of Oceanhorn was made in 2D yet in 2010. Initially the game was developed by the Finnish company Cornifox & Bros, later in 2012 Germany publisher FDG Entertainment joined the project.

Users find that Oceanhorn is quite similar to console game The Legend Zelda

Boom Beach – a new free-to-play strategy by Supercell

Supercell’s is a developer who must be envied by the most game developer giants of the entire gaming industry. Mainly the company succeeds owing to their free-to-play games Hay Day and outstanding Clash of Clans. Considering their daily revenue and amount of daily users they really know how to make hit freemium games. Now the team put their experience into a new project – free-to play strategy Boom Beach.

Boom Beach is a kind of a new view to Clash of Clans

The action of Boom Beach takes place on some tropical archipelago. You’ll have to free paradise islands and their inhabitants from evil Blackguard and unravel secrets of ancient treasures.

Boom Beach is a kind of a new view to Clash of Clans where developers tried to improve the few features which users were complaining about in the previous game. For instance they’ve extended a potential of single-playing mode, provided the opportunity to save troops survived in preceding battle and even to point the direction of attack. The other distinguishing feature is that you can’t be assaulted from all the directions, but only from one. However on the whole Boom Beach game mechanic is pretty similar to the predecessor’s one and the graphics also is similar to Clash of Clans toy-style.

In Boom Beach the potential of single-playing mode is extended

Are you burning with impatience to try this strategy out? Don’t be in hurry to download the game on App Stores. You won’t manage to do it if you’re not a Canadian resident. Yes, at the moment the game is just on a trial-run and it is still unknown when it’ll appear on all of the other markets. So, everybody who wants it now go and register a Canadian account on the App Store. And by the way, lots of developers at first release a game on a soft launch. And most of them likely publish a game on the Canadian market. For example, Big Fish does it all the time. Go and get it! =)
